It is the device which controls the output voltage
(constant) and power factor (reactive power) of the
sysncronous machine with change in Machine load condition.
AVR helps to maintain constant output voltage of Machine
irrespective change in Machine load condition.
AVR is been design on the basis of machine rating ie. what
is machines output power(MVA),voltage and cureent as well
as rating of exciters etc.(ie. voltage and current).

they control the field current in an alternator so that the
output voltage in an alternator is constant w/o any
fluctuation.. its a closed feedback loop..

AVR means automatic voltage regulator.they control the
field current in an alternator.in this Avr first develop
the excitation voltage i.e.54to59v then produce full
voltage. first supply to d.c voltage 7-8v.rectifer use in
that sustem
