condition what happen and for protection which relay used?

Usually we are using a loss of excitation rely. Which
always getting a sense from the field excitation circuit
continueslly during the runing condition of Generator.

I is depend on type of operation-
1) If parrallel with grid/Other generator, than it will
draw reactive power from the Grid/Generator and give active
power to the load. It will work as a Induction Generator.
Reactive power of connected circuit will unbalance.
2) If Generator is running island mode(without any other
source), than terminal voltage of genertor will start to
decrease and current will start to increase. Winding temp.
of Generator and drives will increase.
Under excitation relay provide for this.
