what happens if generator is running leading power facotor?

Answer / alee xain
If it is a Synchronous generator, then upon loss of
excitation it starts running at leading power factor. In
this case it would act as "Induction Generator", providing
active power to grid but taking reactive power from it.

Generator will generate active power (compulsory?) and
leading reactive power. Heating effects of magnetic field
will be both on generator rotor and stator. Generator
terminal voltage increases from its rated voltage. Generator
(and grid) tripping may occur if the inductive load demand
from grid suddenly increases and generator AVR is in manual
mode (as is a normal practice).
