Answer / ravi.p 08-236 svec
to glow the tube light ionization of gas in the tube is
very important for this huge amount of voltage is
required.due to choke is an inductor it doean't allows the
sudden change of voltage and it stores the voltage in the
form of electromagnetic field, that huge amount of storage
voltage(1000-1100)v supplied to electrodes of tube to
ionization of gas at the time of starting in sec's.after
that it bring out the starter to out of circuit.and the
tube light glow continued with half of the supply voltage
(50-60)v.

Answer / vignesh
it has two main functions.
it causes the tube to ignite by using the back emf to create
a plasma in the tube and it controls the current through the
tube when it is ignited.

choke is used to regulate the flow of electrons i.e
current.thats why when tubelight brightness changes when we
rotate the starter.

Answer / naresh
to switch on tube light at intially 230v are not sufficient
so we have choke to get high voltage since if we open an
inductance the huge amount of voltage will generated....
