Stator of three phase induction motor creates Rotating
Magnetic field.But why not Transformer?

Answer / kamaljeet
As the Motor has Distributed w3 phase winding which causes
the rotating flux, but in transformer the winding is
concentrated that causes the fluctuating (Amplitude) flux.

In 3 ph IM winding is placed in slots.so many set of coil
wounded and placed on slots alternate phases and make each
phases 120 degree appart.
but in transformer, only one coil wounded on core and other
winding coil wounded on the coil for each limp each phase.

The question is why there is no rotating magnetic flux in transformers, and the answer is only due to concentrated windings. There is no concept of interaction of fluxes here.Rotating magnetic field is produced only when balanced emfs runs through distributed windings.
As for why transformer donot rotate, the answer is that in the transformer the flux (or I can say majority of the flux) remains in the core itself which is the only probable rotating part.A body cannot rotate if is not acted upon by flux from outside(say air/space),which is the case with induction motors where the rotor body is acted by rotating magnetic flux from stator which is separated through airgap. But for transformer, the flux is only within the body(core),so no case of being rotated.

In the stator the three phase windings are seperated by
120' in space but in transformer no such
displacement...further RMF is formed only by the
interaction of stator flux and rotor flux...but no way to
produce 2-flux interaction in the case of transformer
because of the absence of airgap b/w the windings and the
core as it is wounded directly over the core..

Answer / g.dharnendran
Because in induction motor there is an air gap whieh makes
the stator flux to rotate in the space but in transformers
rotating flux is not possible since the core act as a low
reluctance path and flux takes that path.

will get the rmf that must be satisfied the 2 conditions
1 is the windings physically displaced by 120 electrical
degees 2nd is to saatisfy the fundamental current eq
these aer not present in t/f so t/f does not hv rmf

A transformer is like a single phase stator. It has a
single oscillating magnetic field( flux ). You need an
emerging magnetic field to push an existing field into
motion. Hence, a two phase stator is the minimum required
to create a moving(rotating) magnetic field of flux. Flux
generated by the first phase gets pushed out of the way by
the succeeding phase flux (180deg away). The flux is beng
pushed and so moves. Its a field of flux being pushed
sideways by the ascendency of emerging flux. Inside the
circular stator it forms a flux whirlpool.

all the above answers are wrong because the motor is the rotating
machine but the transformer in static machine so motor creates
rotating magnetic field. the stator in motor is a stationary part and rotor i the rotating part those are separated in such
air gap so the flux in the stator is rotating while the rotor runs.

in 3 phase balance supply for generation of rotating
magnetic flux, the machanical and electrical angle should
be same but in 3-phase tranformer it does not happens.

according to mermf meas the magnitude of flux is constant.
it is 1.5fai m for 3phase im
now for transformer it is a static device it is not rorating
