I hope the question is little different than what you say.
Yes. A proper config mgmt. system would ensure the
coordinated access to test items/tools/docs. Also
maintainability of the testing process can be improved.
Gererally organizations use MS-VSS, ClearCase, RationalRose
etc. tools

Yes.....Configuration testing is nothing but checking the
application whether it is working in all the browsers or
not......So if the browser does not support the application
then how can we do testing....
