Generally the conductors are composite in nature, means it
is made by multiple coil twist one onother. When alternating
current, passes through the conductor then more fluxes cut
by the inner coil than the outer. So, the inductance
(L=Nxflux linkage/i) of the inner conductor will be more
and also reactace(X=wL) will be more. For that reson less
current will flow innersurface of the conductor than
outer.That is call skin effect.

R(ac)is proportional to sq. root of frequency
in dc f=0 so R(ac)=0
hence current is distributed uniformly

Skin effect appears in conductors carrying Alternative
currents. as its name shows, current flows through the
surface rather than through the whole cross sectional area
of the conductor. it happens because of electromagnetic
effect of AC. Due to it inductance of conductor is more at
the centre and it decreases as reaches to surface of
conductor .thats why in AC current flow on surface of
conductor.
AS we know inductance of conductor in dc is zero. so
current has no oppostion so it flow through whole
crossectionl area of conductor

The skin effect is the tendency of an alternating electric
current (AC) to distribute itself within a conductor so that
the current density near the surface of the conductor is
greater than that at its core. That is, the electric current
tends to flow at the "skin" of the conductor. The skin
effect causes the effective resistance of the conductor to
increase with the frequency of the current. Skin effect is
due to eddy currents set up by the AC current.

Hey first 3 answers are wrong i guess....
current flows from outer layer and not inner layer due to
skin effect.
That is why we make iron core as mid core in ACSR
conductor's as current flows from outer layers (i.e
aliminium)

as we know that reactance is zero that is the effect oo
inductance is zero therfore their is uniform resistance in
& on the surface thats why skin effect is absent

The tendency of the AC current to concentrate along the
surface of the conductor is called skin effect.
The apparant resistance of AC is always higher than
DC .The alternating magnetic flux created by an ac current
interact with the conductor , generating a back emf which
tend to reduce the current in the conductor . The center
portion of the conductor is affected by the greatest
number of lines of force. The electromotive force produce in
this way by self inductance varies both in magnitude and
phase througr the cross section of the conductor, being
larger towards the centre and smaller towards the outer .so
the flow of current is maximum in the outer surface of the
conductor ,called as skin effect
In dC there is no inductance an dno skin effect.

In skin effect the current density is way more on the surface rather than in the core of the conductor..
Remember that skin effect is caused by eddy currents. We know that these eddy currents are induced by the alternating current.
This is obviously caused by the frequency of ac. So there's no skin effect in dc..

The current flow in a multi-stranded conductor tends to flow
more on the outer surface than in the inner surface. This is
due to the reason that the flux linkages in the multi-strand
conductors cancel each other in the inner strands than on
the outer strands.Due to this the current flow varies. Also
no alternating fluxes are produced in DC current flow.So the
skin effect is not defined for it.
