Functional Dependency (FD) is a concept used in relational databases to establish relationships between attributes in a table. It states that if a value of one attribute can be derived from another attribute or set of attributes, then there is a functional dependency from the latter to the former. In other words, for every record in the table, there exists at least one attribute whose value determines (or depends on) the value of another attribute. Mathematically represented as A -> B, where A is the determining set and B is the determined set.
