Tell me 2 minutes about traffic hyderabad ?..

Answer / poonam k gill

Hi ,
This matter is really worth discussion. if you belong to
this city, you might be aware of what i would be diccussing
here.
POORLY PLANNED CITY : the city trafic was better when i
moved to this city , around three years back. though
traffic was not diciplined like delhi or north but still
was atleast managed. BUT recenct developments by trafic
authorites have proved that it is poorly planned. The guys
behind this planning are not qualified enough to handle
this responsibilty. Some of the example in support of my
this statement are if you look at the main begumpet road (
the old airport road) its a commercial road that connects
hyderabad and sikandrabad the twin cities. has flyovers.
Lets just talk about the flyover that connects begumpet to
nagarjuna circle and banjara hills area. In office hours
this flyover is full of traffic already and the intelligent
traffic police officials block the traffic turnings from
banjara hills to Punjagutta ( at punjagutta circle) adding
whole traffic flow to begumpet road and congesting the
traffic. If some one has to turn to right from punjagutta
circle towards yashoda hospital , he would have to go all
over till Greenland Lights then take a U turn and come all
the way down to punjagutta circle again adding 5 kilometer
aditional so guess how much congession to the trafic. its
just one example there are lot many roads wheree people are
facing same problems going additional 4-5 kilometer which
can be covered in seconds but due to silly sick management
they are forced to ... THis leads to Accidents to , two
wheelers in orderr to save time and traffic go off the line
in wrong direction. A main cause of hyderabad roads being
the most accident pronbe roads. Take example of RAjBhawan
Road, infront of Yashoda hospital there use to a divider
that was connecting rajbhavan road and punjagutta area. But
blocking that divider added extra 4 kilometers for people
who want to go from T NAgar to punjagutta circle. look at
TDP office road connecting the jubli hill check Post. If
you are at KBR park cicle and want to reach TDP office. its
a 100 step distance that you cover in 20 minutes and 4.5
kilometer. the city need more efficient and more managed
traffic than more traffic people as guards for the ill
managed traffic.
Another Problem with traffic police is in order to make
money they harass people on the road by stopping and asking
for papers. One personal incident i would like to share is
i was going for my doctor's appointment which i was almost
about to miss because of sick traffic. in adition was
stopped by trafic police guy at abids for no good reason. I
was wearing seat belt was driving calmly at moving traffic
speed only. He asked me for pollution certificate ,
expecting that i may not be knowing its sticker pasted on
the front being a girl. I simply replied its already pasted
on front glass of the car then he said no no i am asking
for RC and your licence. he asked me to park my car taking
left turn where i was to gfo straight and it was my traffic
signal. I told him i am in hurry and i haVE TO GO STRAIGHT
he was rude and asked me to park the car i did, showed him
all the papers and my licence. then hwe said madam donot
panic go, its our duty. I was laughing at the indian
traffic police people that only 100 rs would have saved my
time but why should i be payinmg them 100 bucks when i have
no fault. I missed my appoinment , wasted my one leave i
took from office to attend my appointment , spent 200 rs on
patrol and 7 kilometer extra i have to go because of that
silly fellow's decision of parking my car to left .Who
should be blamed for that. I thought of taking his id
number and complaining against him but for that i would
have to go to police station which females in India would
always avoid looking at the reputation of our guards.
Another issue in traffic mismanagement is wrong parking.the
best thing about this is if you have parked car on the side
of the road properly with no bloakage of traffice still
your car would be towed if its rajbhawan road but if you
have your car parked in the middle of the lane in any
residential area where there are comercial complexes too ,
it wont be towed even after complaints , but you would
receive a reply from traffice police inspector that we need
to report to local police station but not traffice police
they r responsible for roads only. HYDERABAD NEEDS BETTER
TRAFFIC POLICE COMMISIONER WHO IS WELL QUALIFIED , WELL
INSYNC WITH THE POLICIES TO MAKE TRAFFIC MANAGED AND
DISCILINED.

Hyderabad traffic : The traffic in Hyderabad is increasing
rapidly. This is all because of our financial institutions,
they are financing two wheelers and four wheelers to every
one for their business. But the problem has to faced by
predestrains and the people who travel in buses. This is
because of they can't reach their officees and dedstinations
on time. Moreover, the indian govt should take the
responsibility in constructing the bridges& roads.
And the next responsibility comes to us is We should follow
the traffic rules and drive carefully.

It's been horrible to move in hyd as day by day the
vehiciler traffic is increasing. especially from paradise
to greenlands it's been common of a snail walk to every
vehicle. I believe that the hyderabad traffic cops are
doing good job, but we are not in discipiline driving. it
took 4 to 5 years to us to accostume for useing the helmets
and now-a-days every rider is using the helmet.
in the same way if we follow the lanes I mean 4 wheel
lane, car and three wheel lane and two wheel lanes from the
begining of paradise CTO junction to green lands junction
our journey will be more comfortable and speedy what do u
say my fellow citizen.

Answer / ashlesha

"Hyderabad" is one of the biggest city in India. But the "Hyderabad Traffic" is one of the biggest "Traffic" in all cities.
Why traffic increased?
Bcoz of good opportunities in jobs and studies people are coming from outside which Results "Increased Population".
But it is the sign of Development. And Day by Day this population is converted into Heavy Traffic.
Now a days as lifestyle is changing,Even single person prefers 4 wheeler instead of using 2 wheeler or public transport which occupies lots of space. Compare to other cities hyd public transport is much better but people avoid to use it, Which again increasing traffic .
With the increased population corruption also increases , as people who are not qualifying the driving test they are also getting the licence which results the Accidents. We cant say that only the people are responsible, the government is equally responsible for the same.
Now population is increasing day by day and traffic will also increased ,so its better to government find some remedies over it like,Constructions of wide roads and fly overs, one-ways in heavy traffic areas and traffic rules should be strictly followed. Hence by this traffic can be controlled up-to certain level.

Answer / kingsley francis

The main reason for traffic problems is vehicles. It is
b'coz wherever u see people roaming on vehicles without any
reason. Another thing is traffic signals - b'coz i have
seen in so many places signals is not been working. so
people on vehicles breaking signal rules and they been
cought by traffic police. Another reason is roads are not
smooth - waters flowing, kacha paka roads, big holes,
drainage water being flowing. Buses, autos, vehicles,
lorries, etc., are so many which are creating problems and
so many accidents are happening.

Answer / pax indiana

There is no end in sight to the problems that Hyderabad is facing. Let me summarize what is wrong.

Firstly where the hell are the pedestrians supposed to walk. They have no place to walk. 90 % roads do not have footpath and wherever there is footpath, the hawker encroach it like it is their birthright. No traffic police officer has guts to deal with hawkers. What a shame on traffic police. Instead of removing hawkers they will ask them money and in lieu of money they will allow them to stay. The traffic police is corrupt and rotten to the core. All they do is stop innocent people randomly and ask money (not even papers). Even if papers are right they will say you broke some rule / no helmet or any thing. The traffic police ask pollution certificates to clean vehicles but they have no problem with autorickshaws emitting black smoke or two wheelers without silencer running on kerosene. Traffic police officers who demand money or accept money should be reported and sacked immediately. They are always rude, corrupt and the scariest people on Hyderabad roads. They always punish innocent and let go of violators. They have no credibility whatsoever. Coming back to footpaths and hawkers. Why are hawkers even tolerated by administration. In no civilized city in the world, can hawkers be accepted. In Hyderabad they occupy prime land and make it useless.

Secondly the rules. Are they supposed to be followed. Auto rickshaws have the right to take any turn and stop anywhere even right in the middle of anywhere. Their radius of curvature is so small they can kill motorcyclists and scratch all the cars. And they wont even bother to stop. To top it all they will emit the worst kind of smoke ever possible. They are rude and may ask any rate and have no meter as prescribed by law. They do not have to stop at any stop sign or red light. They are the real agents of hell in Hyderabad - 3 wheel autos. They should be banned immediately just like in Mumbai. Or at least they should be made to follow all rules in letter and spirit.

Thirdly the city planners. What exactly is their job. To dig up the roads and lay concrete, then dig up once again and then make a flyover. It is totally sad to see that very few flyovers serve any purpose at all. The mehdipatnam flyover is one such case. To ease people going out of the city. Nobody bothers what happens below. Mehdipatnam is a hell hole where no civilization appears possible. No footpath, plenty of hawkers, corrupt officials, no defined bus stops, people walking all over the place, no traffic signals - absolutely nothing. The city should have multiple roads to reach one place - so a city should be like like grid. Hyderabadis believe the the city should be based on hub and spoke framework. Even when new area develop in Hyderabad, it just becomes another hub and no grid ever materializes. Rectangular grids have been proven world over to be the best way to go. The problem here is that there are too few arterial routes and lot of blood supposed to flow - wtf.

Then lastly religious places - where no one ever goes. No administration has the guts or writ to relocate religious places even if they are right in the middle of an arterial road. There are so many competing temples and mosques all over the city in the middle of the road situations. No body in 100 years ever visits these places because of the stench and the dust and smoke and the traffic. Some of them are just a stone with sindoor on it. Why cannot they be relocated or destroyed for the benefit of public. What kind of an administration do we have. What is the reason they exist - just to give more sops and incentives give false promises. the administration does not even have the guts to widen the roads. No tree plantation drive or eco drive is ever undertaken.

The public transport is virtually non existent in Hyderabad. So people have to increasingly rely on shared autos on which even 10 people can hang dangerously. No police will ever stop them because these are poor people just going somewhere. Why cannot their be affordable public transport for the entire city. Why cant the buses be improved and made more abundant and accessible. Why cant the bus stops be well defined instead of just stopping anywhere. Why cant the buses stop at a atop for more that 5 seconds. People have to run or take a leap of life to catch an already overcrowded bus - What the f***. The bus drivers do not have courtesy to stop for even old people who can just walk.

It is very very very sad that Hyderabad despite it glamor and glitz and big companies cannot be called a civilized city by any means. It has the potential to out grow major cities of the west but it can never do that because of the traffic and the town planning. It is more sad that it is disgusting. It has sewer flowing on main roads, corrupt incompetent officials, hawkers and beggars occupying the main roads, no rules apply, no traffic signals. This city is going straight to hell and like an ever fattening fat lady will choke itself due to its own growth.

Traffic in hyderabad..really hard to explain, if you r not
really a good, sensible & rule follower driver. Both
traffic police & public are to be blamed. more to traffic
police. You go to any place on the planet, traffic rules &
traffic police strictness is a very big reason for the good
traffic conditions. Here in hyd, u can find 8-10 constables
standing on one corner to get there daily dose of challans.
They are least bothered that how the traffic can be
strealined, what particular measures can be taken to
improve the traffic in that particular place. Instead of
red signal or manual police signals motorists are driving
throu, teasing the constable. He stands helpless. You will
find atleast 70% constables busy at panshop or mobile.
There is no regular inspection or mandate for the usual
traffic, outrightly a signal or a crossing will be closed &
public will be left to die with a horrible situational U-
turn. Lot of times I have seen traffic police & AP police
themselves going wrong side. People here just to save a few
meters distance probably love to travel wrong side, & that
the traffic constable is busy somewhere. The policy makers,
rule makers, decison makers are just relying of the
feedback of someone & not really having any idea of that
geography & traffic flow of that place. People also should
realize, it's there life that is on the bet. Here The wo
most horrible thing, first People while crossing roads will
not see left or right (not all but 70%) & inspite of
looking some vehicle coming (people who thinks themselves
as very reupted & high class, those who think that stopping
is against there pride) people do not stop & then they
argue to the extent of clash & secondly bikers,
autorickshaws, cars.etc. you will certainly find all of
them croassing, passing by with a margin of not even a
foot. Just watch anytime, anyplace & you can easily notice
that. They think that every inch of the road should be
uilized. Bikers riding on footpath, this you can see only
in hyd in whole country. parking, is next horrible thing.
if it is not the conjusted area parking in GHMC area, then
the rule in hyd says, "stop & park the vehicle where it
stops finally, don't adjust & straighten". I have lived in
nearly 8 cities, but only few place in city are like that
but 80% is fine. But in hyderabad you won't find even 10%
of that 80%. Really feel bad.
