RTU is a Remote terminal Unit which is reflecting the present status of the equipment in the SCADA. So an operator can do the controlling function of the equipment from the SCADA. Normally in a substation, the feeder status will show in the SCADA through the RTU so operator can do the open/close any breaker in the feeder by SCADA through RTU
