CT is current transformer. In an electrical system, you may have very large currents flowing. A CT allows to lower the current to small amps so that measuring equipment such as ammeters can measure the current. It is lowered by a ratio so the ammeter shows the correct amps accordingly.

CT is used for 2 type 1.measuring 2.metering it also step down transformer.it work truns ratio (2000:1)thats mail primary truns carring 2000A it s out put secondary is 1A.Its function of CT.
