One way slab is generally used when the existing space is under constraint.
Moreover , the ratio ly/lx is greater than 2.
where ly = span of slab in longer direction
and lx = span of slab in smaller direction.

There is two condition of choosing one way slab based on span deflection

1.Slab is supported on two opposite side wall.

2.If slab is supported on four side than Ly/Lx should be > than 2.
