what is rt and rrt? how we find rrt? relation between rt and rrt/

what is rt and rrt? how we find rrt? relation between rt and rrt/..

Answer / harshad raj

In HPLC & GC :
The RT means, in which time the main principle peak of component is retain in minute called RT as retention time. and the RRT means: in which time the impurity peaks are retained before and after the main principle peak and that retention time of impurity peaks called RRT, ie. relative retention time RRT to the base of main peak RT.
The relation between RT & RRT is always the main peak RRT is 1.0 and the impurity peak RRT calculation is IMPURITY PEAK RT / MAIN PEAK RT.
For example: The main peak RT is 15 MIn, and the Impurity RT is 5 Min,
The RRT of Main Peak is 15/15 = 1
The RRT of Impurity peak is 5/15 = 0.333...
