while we select CT, why the CT ratio is divided by 5??
ex:250/5,15VA,CLASS-1 CT.Why it is divided by 5??Help me please

CT has primary and secondary, Normally in industries most
of line cable is reffered as primary and your CT coil is
secondary. if you have a CT of 250/5 that means when there
will be a flow of 250A current in your primary side then
you will obtain 5A current on secondary side. Now if you
divide 250 by 5 you will get the CT ratio that is 50. now
if you obtain 3A in secondary that menas 3A mutiply by CT
ratio That is 50 you will get 150A flowing through primary.
your CT is used for protection as well as metering purpose.

Answer / velappan
it is not divided by 5
the primary current is 250A and secondary current is 5A in this case and 15VA is burden we connected on secondary

Why we are mention U1, V1, and W1 in primary side of transformer give technical reason
why earthing is not required on transformer prymary winding side ???

HELLO EVERYONE, I RECENTLY HAVE FOUND ONE PROBLEM, I WAS TAKING NO LOAD TRIAL OF AN HT MOTOR 920 MOTOR , 1440 RPM , 6.6 KV, WITH AUTO TRANSFORMER. AT 450 V, LOAD WAS 40 AMP AND SPEED WAS 250 RPM. BUT AS WE INCREASE VOLTAGE FROM 450 TO 480V, LOAD BECOME 41 AND SPEED REDUCED TO SOME RPM . SO WHICH PHENOMENON ACTED HERE FOR REDUCING SPEED.?? AND IS IT HAPPENING ALWAYS OR IT IS RARE? I ALSO HAVE FACED SUCH PROBLEM WITH FEW LT MOTOR ALSO.
