As i know K,S,J types are used mostly. But i m giving a list of all types of thermocouple....
K-type is a Chromel-Alumel, Range: -200 to +1200 C
S-type is a Platinum+Rhodium (10%)+Platinum (90%), Range: 0 to +1500 C
J-type is a Iron-Constantan, Range: -150 to +1000 C
R-type is a (Platinum+Rhodium)13%+Platinum, Range: 0 to 1600 C
E-type is a Chromel-Constantan, Range: 0 to +1100 C
T-type is a Copper-Constantan, Range: -150 to +350 C
