what happens when dc supply is given to the transformer?..

Answer / jadhav babu

if we give dc supply to the transformer the primary side
winding will get induced emf which is constant ,but we
require an variable emf so that mutual induction takes place
and emf is induced in secondary of the transformer .if dc is
given for a longer period the transformer may get damaged
