what is the difference between earth and neutral?

At starting point(generator output) ref circuit is called
neutral. When we use phase & neutral in a circuit(2 wires
only) and connect same neutral wire with case as a ground,
it will work. But if phase and neutral and enterchanged,
then case will become hot and will be dangrous for the
humen life. When a separate earth wire is connected to
neutral at generator's out put and earth wire is run
separately and connected to the case, it will remain ground
even if the supply (2)wires are interchanged. In case of
leakage (hot to the ground) it will blow fuses and protect
the humen life.

ground or earth in a miai electrical wiring system is a
cnductor that provides a low impedence to prevent hazardous
voltages from appearig on euipmwnt.norally a grounding
condutor does not carry current.
Neutral is a circuit conductor (that carries current in
normal operation), which is connected to earth (or ground)
generally at the service panel with the main disconnecting
switch or breaker..

neutral is a return path, when a circuit having positive
and negative when the current flowing to positive and then
closed to the negative terminal, it is a closed circuit.
but earthing is a protecting the human body, earth is
actually connected to the body of the electrical equipments.

at the genereting stations the conductor which is grounded
very deeply is known as neutral.actually we require two
terminals for a equipment to operate.one is phase and other
is neutral.the current enters through the phase conductor
and leaves through the neutral conductor.but the equipments
like press, cooler have three terminals.the third one is
earth.earth conductor is connected to the body of the
equipment ended in the ground(means we take a long rod and
insert into the ground deeply,so that it does not heat).

OBVIOUSLY, NEUTRAL IS REFRENCE POINT.IT GIVES INFORMATION
TO US THAT HOW MUCH VOLTAGE WE R USING WITH RESPECT TO
NEUTRA.....GROUND IS A MEDIUM BY WHICH LEAKAGE
CURRENT/VOLTAGE PASS TO EARTH.......GROUND ALSO INCREASES
THE VOLTAGE.........

earth : this is the low impedance path for the higher values of currents which is connected to the ground.
neutral : this is the return path for the current as we know that current always flow in the circular direction.

Earth is an electrical conductor solidly connected to a
grounded peg or typically to a galvanised steel water pipe.
Neutral is a connecter to the star point of a three phase
power supply where all three phases are joined. If the three
phase load is balanced, there will be no current flowing in
the neutral conductor. The neutral conductor runs from the
appliance to the neutral point of the supply transformer.
Earth leakage protection devices monitor the current flow
from the Neutral conductor to earth though an earth leakage
detector device. If a leakage current is detected, it
indicates a faulty, and therefor a dangerous situation. The
earth leakage device will trip the mains as a safety precaution

according to me earth can be treated as 0 potential point,
which is used for safetey of human being. whereas neutal is
a reference point, its potential can be 0, 0.5, 5,6,1000
etc. and it is also used as a return path for electrical
circuit.
