cool,
an induction motor's rotor is compared as the short
circuited secondary of a transformer. If rotor is blocked
the magnetizing current will increase and saturates
resulting burning of stator.
now why transformer doesnt rotate
1. the secondary of a transformer is not shorted, although
it is shorted through load, the induction is not generated
by synchronously rotating mmf
2. in order to rotate, it require a synchronously rotating mmf
which is not present
3. Rotor is rigid, i.e. its not allowed to move or rotate
(no Bearing suspension provided)

though the basic principle behind induction motor is similar
to a transformer but the reason to use a transformer is to
step up or down the voltage level in desired lvl. which is
different for a Induction Motor.
Moreover the losses for a rotating unit will
increase....efficiency will decrease...out put will come
down...for a transformer it is not desired...
