Heavy water:-An isotope if hydrogen of mass 2 is known as deuterium or heavy hydrogen. The compound of heavy hydrogen with oxygen is called heavy water. Its chemical symbol is D2O. Ordinary water contains about 1 part of heavy water to 6900 parts of ordinary water. The important technical use of heavy water is on nuclear reactors as neutron moderators
