bcoz,in trans... Copper loss present in coil due to current and iron loss present in core due to voltage,so consideration of both(vol & current) ,the rating of transformer given in KVA,

bcz in transformer two types of losses
may occure they are copper loss and
iron loss. Copperloss depends on current
and ironloss depends on voltage. So the
rating is in kva or mva.

Answer / hayanan
The rating of any machine is given by its heat handling
capacity.Heat in a transformer is due to temperature rise
which is due to the power losses. These losses are constant
losses (core losses) and variable losses (copper
losses).Core losses are constant as they depend
proportionally on the system voltage which is
constant.Copper losses are variable as the load on the t/r
varies and hence the current varies. These two are
represented in VA rating which is apparent power.

Answer / sai
in transformer the losses does not depend on power factor so
it is mentioned in kva

Answer / bimal sarkar
Copper loss in transformer due to current and iron loss due
to system voltage. There are no phase angle between voltage
and current so not depends on load power factor. So total
loss of transformer depends on volt-ampere (VA).

Answer / abhi
The real power(kW) also
depends on power factor on
load side,which varies frm
place to place,while the
apparent power will be cnst
at any place.

Answer / shashank
Capacity of any machine is always specified in terms of its
apparent power handling capacity not just real power because
because both real and reactive components ensure power
transmission.

Answer / g s panda
The angle between voltage and current in primary side is
nearly equal to the angle between voltage and current in
secondary side. So there is not any need of power factor in
describing rating of transformer
