circuit breaker operates under faulty conditions only....
where as isolator is operate under no-load
condition..i.e,when a fault occurs on a power system ckt

the above last two answers are exactly correct, but now a
days we have interlock between braker and isolator also.
isolator opens only when braker is opned. also we have earth
switch attached to issolator to discharge induction voltage
in circuit also enable protection under maintanance.

what is the difference between ac and dc?
My switchgear busbar is rated at 2000A and just imagine the actual load on busbar is 1000A. From that busbar there are 10 outgoing feeders. Now the question is will the load be 1000A on each outgoing feeder or 100A per outgoing feeder. 2nd thing how do i calculate the load on individual feeder. Thanks for your time. Please provide some clarification on this issue.
