the cosin of angle of voltage and current is called p.f.
the connected loads are may be indutance and resitenance
means it will have lagging p.f(e.g.0.75p.f.)that means u
are consuming only 75% of power but u need to pay 100% for
that in this situation we use capacitor banks(capacitor
have leading p.f.)this capacitor bank will reduce that
lagging,so u r power factor will improve to(e.g.0.95)so u
now consuming 95% power for the same cost as u pay before

for ex in x^n line each phase consists of reactance values so
increase the value of reactance is called improving the power factor . according to this the capacitor is connected across the phases it will increase the power factor

I have an existing old MCCB. ABB Model SACE, the rating are: Ue = 660 volts, Iu =1250 Amps, 3 poles, Ith (max) =800 amps at 45 deg C. I need a circuit breaker for my 3 phase motors, 380 volts 60 hz. the supplier required the minimum ampacity of the breaker to be 911 amps. can i use this breaker with rating of Iu =1250 amps but Ith = 800amps maximum?
