Reactive power:- the electrical power component
(impedencei.e. resistive,capacitive, inductive load) which
react on active power of electrical suupy is know as
reactive power and given by; Reactive power = visin phi
Active power:- if the presence of only Resistance component
in the power then it is known as active power or the when
the when the cosin angle diffrence between voltage and
current is zero are in same phase or unity pf then the
multification of vlotage and current is known as active
power i.e. P = VI
To put the voltage and current into same phase or closeby
we need to put APFC or Sych. Motor on our utility to
maintain the PF as unity.

Answer / cracked
reactive power - power drawn from the supply for the
excitation (production of magnetic field) of magnetic
coils/circuits of the machine.
so when using machine with large windings, consumption of
reactive power is more which leads to poor power factor and
hence power factor correction is needed.
