clear advantage is you will have a smoother starting and
reduced starting current.It can be beneficial mechanicaly
also for example the dol stared belt driven fan will have
more belt wear and tears compared with star delta connected
starters.

When the supply voltage is lower than the rated voltage we generally use star delta starter to avoid the over load trip. But in DOL starter, supply rated supply voltage need to start the load
