I think BHP is the net HP available at brake drum.It
normally applies to self-propelled vehicles which employ
clutches,gears and shafts/chains/belts to transmit power to
wheels from the engine.It is equal to HP of the prime mover
minus HP lost in transmission or it can be called as
effective HP
