we can avoid magnostriction by (1) using the difrent type of
alloy of iron in the core sheets.(2) using the slicon steel
in the core.(3) leminating the magnetic alloy when their
surfaces are abraded.

magnetostriction- the magnetic materials have a structure
called domains., as for AC, the domain in the materials
rotate for every magnetisation and demagnetisation cycles..,
by selecting proper core grades we can reduce the M.effect,
the core which has low hystersis has less M.effect
the magnetostriction also due to improper GRAIN ORIENTED
MOMENTS in the material,
So CRGO silicon sheets are used, wher there is a proper
grain orientation
CRGO-cold rolled grain oriented.

Magnetostriction is the effect due to non uniform arrangement domain or grain in the core material.
when alternating current is passed through the core having non uniform grain arrangement, then for every positive and negative cycle the transformer core tries to expand and contract (100 times/sec for 50Hz transformer), due to which some fast vibrations are produced on the transformer, which inturn produces a humming noise in the transformer), it cannot be avoided.
Magnetostriction can be minimized by using the cores which have more uniform grain orientation. (eg:CRGO)
TO totally avoid the Magnetostriction effect, one should go for DC instead of AC (where you can't say that as a transformer anymore).
