With megger you can find out whether the cable is faulty or
not ,but you can not locate it in the cable ,for which a
separate equipment is available.

Using megger we can only find out cable is faulty or not .In the case of HV underground cables , for locating the fault we can use fault locating kit or prelocating kit . using fault locating kit we can pin pointing the fault location, Prelocating kit gives exact fault location im meters by calculation(above 50 mA leakage current is required for 132 KV cables)

how can we detect that which is receiving side and which is sendind end of a trnasmmison line by just seiing it?i.e its which end is coming from genertaing and distribution side?
