answer 2 is partially correct but i would like to add one more point i.e armour is not only used for mechanical strength and it is also used for earthing i.e if any leakage occurs than that leakage currect will be earthed through this armour

3 phase motor can be cabled by any method provided
it provides the necessary safety at site and meets the
requirements of the regulations.
armoured cable is more often used because it is a faster and
a cheaper method that meets the requirements to connect a motor.
