it depends upon the site. In Low rise building construction brick is economical whereas in high rise building construction blocks are convenient as material shifting and load are reduced. Moreover blocks are soundproof as compared to bricks.

Brick construction is economical, because it is cheap in availablity, localy available, & it is manufactured in less time compared to solid blocks, hence brick construction is economical.
