When performing Moisture content how to you say only Methanol react with water not product Explain..

Answer / subash

In KF titration the reaction takes place between I2, SO2,
Methnol and H2O and base acts as a buffer inorder to keep
the pH of the solution between 5.5 and 8.0.

methnol+ SO2+base gives intermediate alkyl sulphite salt
which is then oxidized by I2to an alkyl sulphate salt. This
oxidation reaction consumes water.
