because current flows due to the flow of electrons and the
flow of electrons is always opposite to that of the flow of
current..and as electron flows from -ve to +ve and so
current flows from +ve to -ve.

according to convention current is due to flow of positive charges positive charge of battery repels the positive charge from anode and charge attracted (move to the circuit elements connected in between electrodes) towards cathode.Therefore we are say that current moves from +ve to -ve potential.
