Answer / latha nagendran

Axles are rotating or non-rotating members which are
subjected to only bending moments due to members supported
by it. It does not transmit torque. In other words, an axle
is not twisted it only bends.
Shafts are rotating members which are subjected to bending
moments and twisting moments and sometimes to axial loads.
It twists and transmits power.

Answer / ajay arora

Shafts are the used to transfer torque and bending moment to other member by means of rotation

but axle is stationary used to transfer bending moment . It acts as a support of bending moment

What is the difference between an axle and a shaft? reply soon frnds..........

Answer / samuel

Shafts are structural members mainly subjected to twisting
moment while axles are structural members subjected to
bending moment.

Shafts transmit angular motion from one member to other
while axles are static structural members supporting machine
parts in angular motion.

What is the difference between an axle and a shaft? reply soon frnds..........

Answer / harpreet kamboj

SHAFT is the component whose work is to take power from
engine and transfer it to the required area e.g. driver
shaft take power from engine and transfer it to driven shaft.

AXLE is the part of an automobile to control the rotating
components. Also help to move the vehicle in different
positions.

Answer / nilesh

the main difference between them is,axle does nt take load
at the centre or any of its circumference,it take the load
at its ends like four wheeelers axle and shaft takes load
on shaft circumference

What is the difference between an axle and a shaft? reply soon frnds..........

Answer / om

I think......................
Shaft and Axle both performs revolutionary motion about its
axis. But main difference is being that SHAFT is always
DRIVEN for eg. crankshaft of the I.C. engine. While AXLE
causes other member to drive for e.g. the front and rear
axle of 4 wheeler always drives the wheels.
