why corona loss is less with negative polarity?

Answer / ashish gupta
Although the density of free electrons around the positive conductor is less as compared to negative conductor but the electrons are highly concentrated around the curved surface of the positive conductor and hence for same energy that has to be dissipated in corona, the activation energy require to enegerize the electrons to take part in corona will be less in case of positive conductor as compared to negative conductor.
hence due to participation of large no. of high energy electrons around positive conductor in corona as compared to negative polarity we can say that corona losses are higher in positive conductor as compared to negative conductor.

corona loss is obviously less when compared to the poztv
polarity or (phase)
to understand this we have to know the corona phenomenon,
the air surrounding the HT OR HV conductor gets ionized due
the high potential (nd skin effect also) and this ionised
air also acts as conducting medium, hence the losses okkurs
there. but koming to the negative polarity, the voltage is
very less hence the ionisation of the air surrounding is
very less (comparatively),, henc the corona loss is minimum
with ngtv polarity.
any queries regarding this plz kontakt srikrishna_2020@yahoo.com
