WHY TRANSFORMER RATING IS MENTIONED IN KVA RATHER THAN KW..

Answer / tank

The transformer is an apparatus which receives the power in
VA,KVA or MVA rating depending upon the capacity of the
transformer and it transforms/supplies the power under same
rating to a particular load when it is connected to a
transformer. In this process the power factor of the
connected load decides the KW rating(KVA X P.F = KW).Hence
transformer rating is never given in KW but always in VA,
KVA or MVA at manufacturing stage as there is uncertainity
of the type of the load and power factor to be connected
with the transformer.

WHY TRANSFORMER RATING IS MENTIONED IN KVA RATHER THAN KW..

Answer / parthi

The copper loss of
transformer is depent
on the current and iron
loss is depent on the
voltage. The losses
are does not depent
on the frequency so
the transformer
ratings are in Kva not
in kw.

WHY TRANSFORMER RATING IS MENTIONED IN KVA RATHER THAN KW..

Answer / sunil

Transformer is electrical equipment and hence delivers in
rated KVA. kW is what we use after pf, losses etc.

WHY TRANSFORMER RATING IS MENTIONED IN KVA RATHER THAN KW..

Answer / baljeet singh

The transformer is a power source device ,It transformer electricity from one medium to another medium.Due to this power factor not take on part.So transformer rating alwas in kva not in kw
