what is the difference between analog and digital communications? which is the efficient communicat..

Answer / pavan

analog means continuous transmission of data whereas digital
means discrete transmission of data. in analog
communications we are transmitting finite amount of data in
infinite amount of information. so,there is a possibility of
occurrence of noise. where as in digital we are transmitting
finite amount of data in finite amount of information. so ,
out of these two, digital is most efficient.

differences betwwen analog and digital communication
1.in analog communication, the signal can take up voltage
level corresponding to any real number,
2. hence once it is corrupted with noise it is difficult to
recover the correct value.
3. repeaters in analog communication are amplifiers which
also amplifies noise thereby degrading the quality of the
system.
4.since the voltage can take infinite levels, it would need
infinite bits to represent data.
5.analog data is continuous time continuous amplitude data.

1.in digital communication signal can take up only one among
two voltage levels corresponding to 1 and 0.
2. hence even if it is corrupted by channel noise it is
possible to recover the original information by using a
suitable threshold at the receiver.
3.repeaters in digital communication can be wave
regenerators which produce new waveforms after recovering
the original information from the received waveform and
hence noise does not accumulate through a digital
communication link as in analog link.
4.since the voltage can take only finite number of values,
it requires finite number of bits for propagation. 5.digital
data is discrete time discrete amplitude data.
digital communication is more efficient in terms of noise
immunity and quality.

what is the difference between analog and digital communications? which is the efficient communicat..

Answer / rahul chahar

1.analog communication is transmitted in electronic pulses
2.it is a continuous transmission of data
3.in this communication the transmitted signal can take
voltage level corresponding to any real number so noise
interference is more and also we require a large no of bits
to represent data
4.in this amplitude and frequency vary together
in digital communication
1.discrete transmission of data
2.the signal is broken into binary format and then transmitted
3.in this transmitted signal can take voltage level of
finite number so less noise interference and hence we
require less no of bits to represent data
4.in this frequency and amplitude did not vary together one
always remain constant
we conclude that digital communication is more efficient
than analog communication

Analog
Analog systems are less tolerant to noise, make good use of bandwidth, and are easy to manipulate mathematically. However, analog signals require hardware receivers and transmitters that are designed to perfectly fit the particular transmission. If you are working on a new system, and you decide to change your analog signal, you need to completely change your transmitters and receivers.
Digital
Digital signals are more tolerant to noise, but digital signals can be completely corrupted in the presence of excess noise. In digital signals, noise could cause a 1 to be interpreted as a 0 and vice versa, which makes the received data different than the original data. Imagine if the army transmitted a position coordinate to a missile digitally, and a single bit was received in error? This single bit error could cause a missile to miss its target by miles. Luckily, there are systems in place to prevent this sort of scenario, such as checksums and CRCs, which tell the receiver when a bit has been corrupted and ask the transmitter to resend the data. The primary benefit of digital signals is that they can be handled by simple, standardized receivers and transmitters, and the signal can be then dealt with in software (which is comparatively cheap to change).
