D-FLIPFLOP stands for Delay flip-flop.
It delays the input given to it ;means
if at input given 1(logic 1) then at output it will give 1.
you can make it from JK flipflop by just connecting a not
gate between two input.

Answer / kevin patel
the output of D- flip flop is same as the input only change
is that output has some delay and that is why this flip
flop know as D- flip flop where D stands for delay.

Answer / brameshwar gupta
d in d flip flop stands for delay, as the output data gives
a delayed output....
but d is using for the data input instead of s and R

Hey friends..
I think both answers are correct.
Since many textbooks say it is DELAY
While
The lectures from IIT Madras Says that it stands for data!!
You can verify it from the link below

D stands for DATA, since every f/f or even A SIMPLE CKT CAN
PROVIDE A UNIFORM DELAY( due to propagation delay, and every
circuit has its own delay). SO it does not add any special
meaning to a D F/F!!! its the data storage property which is
unique!!!

Answer / viswa
D refers to DELAY in d flip flop it actually means that the same input given as D reflects at the output after the clock pulse is triggered depending on its nature(POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE EDGE TRIGGERED).
