In corona, the air around the conductor(phase) is ionized
and starts conducting.But the potential build up between any
two conductors is not higher than the break down strength of
insulation of air.The clearance between the two conductors
is designed keeping this fact is mind.Hence it do not get
short circuited.May be if the clearance is small, there
might be any possibility of Short circuit.

Why (In India) we preferably go for +-30 deg connection of transformer? what are the advantages in this connection?
