ALL TRANSFORMERS RATING ARE IN KVA BECAUSE TRANSFORMER IS
INDEPENDENT OF POWER FACTOR AND TRANSFORMER WILL NOT ACT AS
A LOAD, IT ONLY TRANSFERS VOLTAGE FROM ONE LEVEL TO OTHER LEVEL.
KVA = KILO( VOLTS * AMPERES )
NORMALLY REACTORS RATINGS ARE IN KVAR

Transformer reating is always in KVA because the losses of
T/F are depending upon voltage & current ,not on the phase
angle so that T/F rating is in KVA not in KVAR

TRANSFORMERS ARE RATINGS ARE IN KVA.WHY BECAUSE CORE LOSSES
DEPENDING ON VOLTAGE AND COPPER LOSSES ARE DEPENDED ON
CURRENT.SO,TRANSFORMER DEPENDING ON VOLTAGE AND
CURRENT .THATS WHY TRANSFORMER RATING IN KVA.
REACTIVE POWER IS RATING IN KVAR .

someone has written that transformer losses depend on voltage as well as current that's why the rating is in KVA.
In case of motor also cu loss and iron loss depend on current and voltage respectively. Then the rating of motor why not in KVA ??
In case of x-mer we simply dont know the power factor as it operates at different power factor with time.
That's why the rating of x-mer is in KVA, not in KW.

How does frequency affect KVA rating of a transformer? If a 500 kva, 500 to 250 v, 60 hz t/f normally used in Canada is to be operated in Europe on 50 hz frequency then how will its KVA rating change? a-increase b-decrease c-remains same
We are preparing another project which involves Waste heat recovery from a 1 MW GE Engine. The Engine in particular gives out flue gas at 487Deg C with a flow rate of 5650 kg/hour and this can be cooled to 180 Deg C. This gives a thermal output of ~ 594 KW that is available for input to VAM via heat exchanger / boiler. Additionally 581 KW will be available from engine jacket water (temperature profile 80/ 80 Deg C and a flow rate of 50m3/hr) Our estimation is that 300 TR of cooling is possible with a suitable VAM machine(s). Please advise what is the most suitable arrangement with maximum TR and min Capital expenditure. plz reply me as early as possible
