Amoung all classes of electric machines, why the
transformer uses oil as one medium of cooling?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Answer / iamdon
The transformer has no rotating parts so there is no any
scope of natural cooling through draught.Only option left
is the use of transformer oil as cooling medium. The oil
circulates through fins which cools the transformer.
Other electric machines has a rotating part, which produces
draught.It helps in the cooling.

Transformer oil has properties that it gives cooling to
transformer by rotering in fins, moreover this oil ishaving
high dielectric strength, hense it gives additional
insulation to T/R winding.so T/R oil is more advantages for
it.

In transformer there are no any moving part or rotary part
so we not have meedium to cerculate the heat. And other main
reason of using the oil as cooling because it also crate
the insulation between body as well as windings.

the above answers are almost correct.but i would like to
inform that we are also using air cored/cooled small x'mers
also as control x'mer upto 6KVA.In large KVA x'mer copy the
above answers.
