What is the difference between switch gear and control gear ?..

Answer / ujjwol

Lets take an example of 12 kV switchgear Panel. Generally they are internally housed. It consists of VCB,CT,PT inside itself. We dont have CTS or PTs or CBs outside in the switchyard for 11 kV.

Let us now consider 33 kV or 66 or 132 kV panels...they consist of Control & Relay panels for controlling equipments like CBs and DS. Its because CT,PT and breaker are located on the switchyard (external)while only the control panels are internally housed.

So the switchgear consists of CB+CT+PT +C&R Panel
while control gear just consists of Control & Relay panel only ..

HOpe u get it...
