not 4C??

Answer / ajay lathwal
Generally motors are of two type 1) single phase 2) three
phase
1) in this type 3 core cable used 1 for phase 2nd for
neutral 3rd for ground
while in,
2) in this type 3 core cable used for three phases & ground
is attached separatlly
Thats why 3 core cable used.

Answer / suburavichandran
only 3 phase motors are connected with such 3c cables. it is because the 4th core is used for neutral return particularly during unbalanced condition. It rises when each phase is connected to different single phase loads.since 3phase motors are balanced loads.there s no need for the 4th core i mean neutral.
