For what purpose an AVR in generator sensing generator output voltage?and how the sensing is done ..

Answer / dipak062078

AVR is used in the excitation system of the generator. It
senses the voltage changes accross the generator
terminals.Sensing is done PT connected in terminal.According
to the voltage change it increases or decreases the
excitation of the main exciter field and the main exciter
controls the generator field excitation to control the
terminal voltage.

For what purpose an AVR in generator sensing generator output voltage?and how the sensing is done ..

Answer / indrajeet

AVR (Automatic voltage regulator)has a voltage setting pot
as per requirement say 415 Volts.AVR takes reference of
generator voltage & tries to control as per set voltage by
adjusting excitation voltage.

For what purpose an AVR in generator sensing generator output voltage?and how the sensing is done ..

Answer / jigs

To regulate the o/p voltage avr senses the gen o/p volt., a
pt is used to step down the gen o/p volt and then it gives
the proper volt signal to avr.
