Is there any difference between circuit breakers and
isolators
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
both circuit breaker and isolator make or break the circuit
but main difference is that circuit breaker operates on load
condition and isolators operate of load condition.circuit
breakers operates on fault condition or when we have to
interrupt the ciruit:
1. open the circuit breaker
2. open the isolator
and when we have to close the circuit:
1.close the isolator
2.close the circuit breaker

Circuit breaker is a device which can close or open a
circuit under normal conditions and automatically open a
circuit under abnormal conditions with the help of
protective relays.
Isolator is nothing but a switch which can be
operated at no-load conditions.
While making a circuit, first close isolator and then close
circuit breaker.
While breaking a circuit, first open circuit breaker and
then open isolator.

Breaker has trip function, breaker can operate
automatically like opening & closing the circuit with help
of UV & CC coil. It case over current it will trip.
Isolator has no trip function it has fuse. in this case we
can open & close the circuit by manually. It case over
current fuse will open.

circuit breaker has a capacity of making and breaking the
current.circuit breaker operated at on load condition, but
isolator opearted in off load condition

When any fault occurs, circuit breaker detect the fault and
discontinue the electrical flow by opening the circuit. Thus
circuit breaker can open the circuit directly whereas
isolators opened after opening the circuit
breaker.isolators are used only to make sure that an
electrical circuit is completely de-energised.Thus
isolators can not open a circuit directly.

isolator is a just likes as a on and off switch .but we can
operate local and remote operation in C.B . C.B also trip
the electrical system while occured the fault.

Circuit breaker ---Trips the circuit in case of any fault(By opening/closing fixed or moving contacts).
Isolator---Dosent have any tripping mechanisim just isolate the circuit simply blows the fuse where it is connected in case of any fault.
