An automatic voltage regulator, or AVR is used in a
generator to control the output voltage.
The AVR varies the excitation voltage (on the rotor) to
produce the desired voltage on the output terminals.
It is required because the excitation voltage changes as
the load (and power factor) change.

The automatic voltage regulator, AVR is a voltage regulator
that monitors the voltage output of the generator in order
to regulate the excitation voltage fed onto the rotor poles
to obtained the desired voltage output.

Hi...
i have one query.
in my native place We have Fridge , i put Stabilizer for fridge, spec is as follows
Input 130-270 ,Output- 230.....But the problem is that voltage we are getting from Electricity supply company is low it is below 110 V . so fridge doesn't start,,i think it is not meeting the spec of the stabilizer..is there any solution over it

AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE REGULATOR OR COMMONLY KNOWN AS STABILIZER IS TO GIVE REGULATED OUTPUT VOLTAGE.....
IT HAS MANY APPLICATIONS AND IT PREVENTS FROM UNDER AND OVER VOLTAGE FLUCTUATION...
AND SAGS ,SPIKES ,TRANSIENTS ,RUGGEDNESS IN VOLTAGES IS ALSO PREVENTED BY AVR
FOR ANY DISAGREEMENT MAIL ME AT parmar20072008@yahoo.com

As the name itself suggests, it is used for regulating the
voltage. We normally use it with our costly equipments,
like TV or refrigerator, to save them from dangerous
voltage fluctuations.

what are the advantage and dis-advantage of 3 phase 4 wire energy meter?
Can a dc motor works as a dc generator. If yes , then how?
We use ungrounded DC system (220V/110V) for control and protection system in substations etc. Suppose we have long 2 core DC cables running from our DCDB in control room to the load (length of around 2 to 3 km). Do we need to protect these long DC cables from earth leakages or not? If yes how?
How many types of faults are there in 3 phase power system?
why ct output is in 5A?
wish of these transformer uses oil?
what is PID control in VFD drives?
why there is a fault occurs, if a phase wire touches ground.. and the fault not occurs when we connect a bulb between phase and ground..??
sir iam from electrical and electronics branch ,can i appear for the hpcl offline requirtment? if yes please mail me on vikram_raju25@yahoo.co.in
