In simple, synchronous generator supply's both active and
reactive power but asynchronous generator(induction
generator) supply's only active power and observe reactive
power for magnetizing.this type of generators are used in
windmills.

synchronous generator is generator running at constant
speed which is equal to the output frequency and it supply
both active as well as reactive power itmeans apparent
power whereas asychrous generator is running slightly less
speed then the spped of frequency and it is supplied active
power only..

synchronous generator is nothing but an alternator or turbo generator. The synchronous means constant speed achieving the rotor comparing the stator. The synchronous generator is not a self starting generator it directly generates ac emf with out commutator and inside of the machine two type rotor types using ,1)sailent pole type for low speed,2)cylindrical type or non silent pole for high speed
induction motor is a asynchronous generator rotor always try to acheiving the speed of stator but it does nt reach.
in this two types of rotor connection using 1)squrial guage induction type, wound rotors.

synchronous generator is nothing but altenator which is
routating at synchronous speed only where as asynchronous
generator is inductoin motor which is routated with another
prime mover it's speed is more than the speed of stator
field.

AC is the magnitude of sinosudial-wave but we use cose value to determine power factor instead of sine value.

How regulator control the fan speed?
I have a shop heater with a 1/3 hp capacitor start, induction motor driving the fan. Intermittently, the fan motor speeds up significantly for several seconds (15-60 sec) then slows to normal operating speed. The manufacturer suggested changing the capacitor which made no sense, but I did it to no avail. Could this possibly be caused by the centrifugal switch intermittently reconnecting the start winding?
