because it has two i/p and one o/p .
using three terminal we can simply make a triangle .

As it has 2 inputs & 1 output & o/p is wrt 2-i/ps,now a
block with minimum(sufficient) area producing 1-o/p
corresponding to 2 i/ps must be triangle with o/p at its
vertex .It shows above picture with area as triange.
It is the standard symbol for OPAMP IC and it is used all
over the world.

terminal,and 1 output.so the shape is a triangular one.

to reduce size, so to accomodate ckt having 2 inputs and
one output the better arrangement comes out to be
triangular than any other shape...
