WHEN DO WE GO FOR FMCW TYPE RADAR & PW TYPE RADAR ?

WHEN DO WE GO FOR FMCW TYPE RADAR & PW TYPE RADAR ?..

Answer / naveed t p

FMCW - Frequency Modulated Continuous-wave radar.
PW - Pulsed wave radar.

I think PW is mostly used in Instrumentation of refineries
where its commmonly used in level measurement. This is
pulsed method making use of doppler frequency shift
principle. this uses more power
I think FMCW is used in moving objects like in
ships/submaries, where its possible to differentiate
between objects like boat & Hull. This makes uses of
continuous increasing frequency signal, this works at lower
power.
