as thermal conductivity of fouling is low so it decrease
the heat transfer rate

due to fouling it add an extra heat resistance.as a result
it decrease the heat transfer rate.

As intensity of fouling increases the resistance to Heat
transfer is idecreses as rate of heat transfer is
inversaly proportional to thickness

Answer / shravan kumar
Fouling increases the thickeness of the heat transfer
surface which results into a increased resistance to heat
transfer and hence the rate of heat transfer decreases.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 11 Yes | 2 No |
Fouling increases the thickness of the heat transfer
surface. It add an extra heat resistances a result
it decrease the heat transfer rate.
Since rate of heat transfer is inversely proportional to the
thickness of the heat transfer surface and fouling increases
the thickness, therefore fouling decreases the heat
transfer rate.

Answer / rajasekhar
Fouling means accumilation of impurities in heat
exchangers,if fouling factor increases heat transfer rate
decreases.
Due to fouling tubes will corrode there won't be proper
heat exchange between hot and cold fluid.

as every chem people know abot it..as thickness of layer
increses heat resisitance increases...heat transfer rate is
lowerd....it is more observed in boilers....some times it
leads boiler accidents....bcoz of dis caustic embrittlement
occured mostly in boilers

Answer / umesh medhavale
Fouling is inversely propotional to Heat transfer rate,
fouling means impurities settel inside and outside of tube,
thats effect on heat transfer rate
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 2 Yes | 0 No |
Answer / vikrant kumar
Fouling is dirt materials deposit on heat trasfer
surface.Since its heat resistance value is high,So Heat
transfer rate will reduce after formation of fouling.

h=k/d, where d is the thickness of wall across which heat
transfer takes place,if we increase d by anyway then
resistance to heat transfer is going to increase but i must
tell u one thing to you guys that i am a process design
engineer(basically chemical engineer) working since last 6-
7 year in the field of design, many time during heat
exchanger design, if we take fouling factor zero then we
get value of heat transfer coeficient less ( HTRI run) as
compaired to somewhat fouling surface, this means sometime
less fouling metal surface is giving added advantage of
heat transfer as compaired to smooth metal surface, this
reverse the above low about which everyone is talking(
inversly proportional), if any one have HTRI software then
he can run and cross check my point.

we have 2 O2/Comb Analyzers Servomex Model 2700 in service for one of the furnaces in our chemical plant. It is giving High Temperature Alarm. Checked Temperature and found it to be 800 Deg C whereas Set Point is 700 Deg c. It is strange why is temperature not at SP. Also response is 23 % with 21 % Inst Air and with N2 reading is not coming down. please clarrify this issuses very urgent
Question 108 - (a) The correct statement about both the average value of position (<x>) and momentum (<p>) of a 1-dimensional harmonic oscillator wavefunction is <x> = <p> = 1 - x. Find the value of x. (b) The probabilities of finding a particle around points A, B and C in the wavefunction y = f(x) are P(A), P(B) and P(C) respectively. Coordinates are A (3,5), B (4,-10) and C (6,7). Arrange P(A), P(B) and P(C) in term of a < b < c, when | y-coordinate | signifies the probability.

DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS - EXAMPLE 20.3 : A differential equation is given as y” + 5y’ + 6y = 0, y(0) = 2 and y’(0) = 3. By using Laplace transform, an engineer has correctly produced the equation L {y} = (2s + 13) / [(s + 2)(s + 3)] = A / (s + 2) + B (s + 3). (a) Find the values of A and B. (b) The inversed Laplace transform of 1 / (s + a) is given by exp (-at) where a is a constant. If the statement : L {y} = 9 L { exp (-2t) } - 7 L { exp (-3t) } is correct, find the equation of y as a function of t as a solution to the differential equation stated in the beginning of this question. When L {d} = 9 L {b} - 7 L {c}, then d = 9b - 7c with b, c and d are unknowns.
