Can anybody explain Why starters are not used for motor starting in industries?..

Answer / pillay

Is your question correct? All motors must be started with some
type of starters what more if they are used for industrial
purpose.
In addition to provide a safe mean of starting and stopping
the motor it should be able to to protect the motor itself.
With the help of a starter you can provide overcurrent and earthfault protection unauthorised starting unwanted stopping
and you can plan your starting and stopping as desired.

Answer / sanjeet

starer reduce starting current with adding the external
resistance with the armature in series ,because the
resistance of the armature is very less,so starting current
is very high .
I=V/R if r is less then curent is very high

to reduce the starting curent starter is used.

up to 5 hp motor dol starter is used
but in industries the rating of the motor is if higher
thane 5 hp then starter is not used
