MCB is used for high rating &MCB is used for lower
rating. What is technical difference between ACB & MCB?

I think u want to know the difference of application
between ACB and MCB!
ACB- Air circuit breaker. it is used at incomming after
transformer secondary, b'coz at secondary side current is
more unless load is not distributed. ACB protects the
system without occuring any fault while switching on and
off of supply. B'coz it consists some mechanism to quench
the arc while occuring in system. it can used at 2500 amps.
where as in MCB(Miniature circuit breaker) there is inner
mechnism to quench the arc while operating at high
currents.that why ACB is suitable for high currents in
system.

MCB can carry small currents up to 100A and it is having
only thermal trip protection and breaking capacity of MCB's
are very less the maximum is 10KA, but ACB's can carry
large currents up to 6300A,breaking capacity of ACB's are
high the maximum is 120KA and it is having lot of
protections like under voltahe over voltage short circuit
and earth fault protections, user can adjest the protection
settings, most advanced feature of ACB's are communication
facility, user can monitor and set the parametrs from
remote and also he can download the history of faults with
day and time stamp. So, where ever ever user required high
grade of protection the only choice is ACB's.

ACB & MCB both are circuit breakers the only diffrence is
of number of operation, Size, operational machenisem,
cooling system, breaking capacity.due to all above factors
ACB used for high rating and MCB used for distribution
system.

whenever we go for selecting a interrupting device , we
must thnk of ranges for which the are designed.
MCB IS DESIGNED FOR LOW RATING OF CURRNT AND ACB IS FOR
HIGHER VALUE OF CURRENT. ACB HAS CURRENT LIMITING FEATURES
UPTO A GOOD EXTENT.

MCB is for lower voltage and lower currents. MCB short
circuit current level is 10kA only.
ACB is ever for lower and medium voltage and high currents.
Short circuit, making and breaking currents are so high.
Both are using air for quenching medium.

the mcb is miniature circuit breaker while acb is air
circuit breaker. in both types the difference is between
the arc quenching in mcb there is no mode of arc quenching
at pressure while in acb the arc quenching is done by high
pressure air through air chutes. mcb are not rated for very
high current while the acb are used for high currents

THe short circuit withstand current Icw of ACB is higher
than that of MCCB so it is used at the incoming end while
the MCCB is used for downstream protection

1)we r having one problem .one dry type transformer(6.6KV/433V)is taking high magnetizing current on delta connected HV side of "U" phase when compared to other two phases.could any body tell the reason why it is happening? 2)why CT secondary side protection core has got higher winding resistance when compared to that of metering core of same CT?

Hello, I am just preparing my self for a university interview and struck on the 11kv ring main unit system network. I just know that ring main unit has total three breakers, fuses and use to supply a power to any load/ building without any interrupt. But i am not be able to visualize the connections, either Ring main unit getting power from two different power sources? or there is always one feeder in complete ring circuit??? I would be highly thanks full of you help me.
